One MLM Program vs. Many MLM Programs
Depending on the MLM guru to whom you are listening, your best chance for success is finding one program and focusing all your attention on it or signing up for as many good programs as you can find. These diametrically opposed perspectives can be classified as the following schools of thought: One Program and Many Programs, respectively.
Which school is right? As is so often and frustratingly the case, the answer is: It depends. The programs in questions, your finances, the time you have to spend, and your personal disposition are all important factors in this decision.
If your financial and temporal resources are limited, spreading them out between multiple programs will probably not get you over that initial hump of development that each opportunity will require. (Overzealous MLMers who are trying to build their downline perpetuate the myth that the program affiliates earn money without doing anything. That is the expected end result, but it takes a lot of hard work at the beginning to reach that point.)
Certain programs also lend themselves better to one school or another. Many programs to generate traffic for your web page are free and require a browser window to be open to a certain page on your computer. Since you can easily open multiple browser windows and pay $0 as many times as you can click a button labeled "Join Now", it only makes sense to sign up for every program you come across.
It's also important to look at your personal situation. I run a web site that compares various affiliate programs. People come to this site because they are interested in joining one or more programs, but don't know what they want from a program or what's available. It behooves me to participate in multiple programs so that I can provide opinions, insight, or just information on the opportunities I think would be a good fit for them.
In truth, the right course for most people is somewhere between these two extremes. Your main program might be a site that resells household goods. In order to bring traffic to this site, you decide to also join an internet marketing program and several traffic generation programs. The household goods site produces most of your income, but the other programs support its growth.
There is no right or wrong answer. Just get started and be ready to increase or decrease the number of programs in which you participate as needed.

Many Programs Looking for people interested in opportunity, then can recommend program that is the best fit Marketing efforts and money are scattered over multiple programs If one program or downline folds, you have other sources of income You will meet minimum payout slowly because your earnings are spread out in several programs Exposure to much experience and vast array of ideas in building your downline Can work well for paid to email, traffic generation, internet marketing, and product referral/resale programs
