When you over-eat certain types of foods there is a very good chance that you are going to suffer from digestive problems. Gas can also be brought on by medications and heavy drinking. You can get around distress of this type if you take certain steps to prevent the problem.
- Always keep in mind that spicy foods, garlic, onions, chocolate, and alcohol are just a few of the foods that can give you heartburn. Avoid them as much as possible.
- More and more people are taking not only their favorite beverage to parties, but are taking their own low-fat or low-calorie dish to parties and dinners. You can take foods you know will not cause you any problems.
- If you must eat out, check all of those foods that are available so that you can choose the best for you. Remember! This is for one meal only. You can do without this one time to save you much misery later on.
- Keep fruits and non-spicy foods handy in your refrigerator so you will avoid those foods that can cause you problems.
- Avoid milk. Low-fat or skim milk will not be as hard on you as whole milk.
- Do drink plenty of water.
- Antacids are excellent for relieving pain.
- Do not take aspirin.
- Eat less and you will produce less acid. This means less problems.
- Avoid foods high in fats.
- Eat smaller meals more often instead of the usual three meals a day.
- We all know that fresh fruits are good for you but they can also be acidic. Cut down on the amount of oranges, lemons, etc. that you eat at a single sitting.
- Avoid coffee and smoking.
