Lets Take A Trip To Teeth School

Lesson # 1

Teeth whitening, also known as bleaching, is a process of removing stains caused by coffee, smoking and certain types of food. The process bleaches the enamel and the principal mass of a teeth and give brightens to our teeth.

Many people obsess about the color of their teeth. After a while, our teeth our no longer pearly white, they get a yellowish tint that drives people crazy. Many people don’t realize that there are a number of things we can do to prevent our teeth from turning this yellowish color. On top of ways to prevent it, there are also many ways to bring back the white and get that perfect smile everyone wants.

The tooth is made up of four different tissues. The enamel is the strong white covering that guards the teeth from diminishing due to chewing food. Dentin is a hard, yellow material that carries the nerves in your teeth. The pulp is the center of the tooth.  This part is where the tooth communicates with the brain. The fourth part is called the cementum. This covers the root of the tooth. It attaches the teeth to the bones in your jaw.

How Does it Work?

The key reason teeth turn the yellowish tint is that when people eat, drink, or smoke, a layer of film develops on the tooth. Even with brushing on a regular basis, some of the film is still left. Brushing with a whitening toothpaste and regular visits to the dentist with help get rid of even more film. However, some film still remains and it eats away at the enamel. The enamel is what makes the tooth white so when the enamel thins, the dentin (yellowish bone-like material) starts showing through. This is what gives off the yellowish tint. Age also affects discoloration of the teeth. Teeth darken simply with age. Regular visits to the dentist can also prevent tooth decay, a leading cause of discoloration.

From Problem to Solution

If younger people have issues with yellowish teeth, it’s more than likely from staining, not from long-term thinning of the enamel. Staining can happen on the inside or outside of the tooth. Inside staining happens when your teeth are developing and is probably caused by medications taken as a baby. The outside staining is caused by several things. Drinking a lot of coffee, red wine, smoking and certain types of foods cause outside staining. Soda, tea and berries contain chromogenic agents which stain your teeth. Even some types of medication taken as an adult can cause staining. One common drug is minocycline which is used to treat facial skin conditions. Extensive use of fluoride can also cause chalky white spots to appear. A minimal amount of fluoride can be healthy for your smile but like many things, too much can do more harm than good.

There are many natural ways to whiten your teeth without any fuss. With regards to the condition of your teeth, home bleaching kits can be hugely effective as well as easy to use. A lot of kits will need two weeks before you’ll see the final results, with follow up applications needed to maintain the whitening effect. You can also use some of the whitening toothpastes; using these may take longer to reach the intended results. The main benefit in using whitening toothpastes on a daily basis is that your teeth retain the whitening results. Something to keep in mind, we are all born with a particular tooth color or shade genetically, which isn’t pure white. Whichever method of whitening you end up picking, your teeth can be naturally whiter; they may not get to be the white shade you have in mind.

Lesson # 2

An effective homemade whitening mixture with bleaching effects to brighten your smile is baking soda. It has an activator which will help to remove the buildup of plaque, which can discolor your teeth. In essence, mix the baking soda with water to form a paste, apply the paste to your teeth and find a c

omfortable chair to sit for 20 minutes. Make sure to rinse well, eliminating all of the baking soda from your teeth, rinsing with mouthwash. Repeat the routine a minimum of three times a week and cleaner, whiter teeth will be yours. There’s a second baking soda mixture utilizing lemon juice as a way to whiten your teeth. As a natural acidic, lemon juice is rather effective at eliminating the stains and daily plague that accumulates on your teeth. Basically, combine the lemon juice with the baking soda and keep to the same routine; apply the paste, allow the  ingredients to work and rinse well. Just like all health and beauty routines, desired results for whiter teeth need frequent applications.

Natural foods like strawberries, oranges, lemons and apples are natural teeth cleaners and whiteners. Both the lemons and strawberries have citric acid and work effectively in order to whiten your teeth. Exercise some caution when using these foods, the acid can cause damage to the tooth’s enamel if used excessively. Good oral health habits generally include rinsing your mouth after using or eating them. The texture of an apple enables you to clean and whiten your teeth by taking off the plague. The apple’s juice contains an organic astringent that whitens your teeth. They are also healthy cleaning method for gums and teeth.
